The article text has a limit of 1000 words (excluding the list of secondary sources) in order to encourage students to identify and focus on the primary sustainable technology objective or issue. The process of prioritising information and removing less relevant information is a reflection of the student's familiarity and understanding of the selected topic.

The intended audience of the article is informal and students are not required to use a referencing or citation format. However, all the usual rules of writing apply and should not distract the reader from the main purpose of the article.
