The Technology Context – B101
Coursework Assignment 1
Academic year
2007/8
Coursework Title:
Sustainable Technology Article
Coursework Due Date: 30 October 2007
Lecturer: C Nguyen
COURSEWORK DESCRIPTION
Write a short article to describe a current project that involves sustainable technology objectives or issues:
- Describe the primary sustainable technology objective or issue.
- Describe the reasons that make this project personally relevant to the student.
- Describe a plan of inquiry and include a list of specific resources for further independent research regarding that project.
This coursework requires students to:
- Conduct a survey of existing projects and select one specific project that will act as the main topic for all coursework assignments in this unit.
- Learn how to use the tools provided by the university for conducting independent research using secondary sources.
- Develop a plan of inquiry and conduct a preliminary research to identify a list of secondary sources for further study.
The article text has a
limit of 1000 words (excluding the list of secondary sources) in order to encourage students to identify and focus on the primary sustainable technology objective or issue. The process of prioritising information and removing less relevant information is a reflection of the student's familiarity and understanding of the selected topic.
The intended audience of the article is informal and students are not required to use a referencing or citation format. However, all the usual rules of writing apply and should not distract the reader from the main purpose of the article.
This coursework contributes
30% to the B101 unit mark.
COURSEWORK SUBMISSION
Students are required to submit their coursework online using the
Mosaic website.
