COURSEWORK DESCRIPTION

Write a short presentation to summarize and illustrate an article or report (or several related articles) about a sustainable development issue covered in this unit.

The articles must be taken from one or more of the following news sources:

The delivery of the presentation is limited to a maximum duration of 5 minutes.

Articles and other external sources must be cited and referenced using the Harvard APA format.

This coursework contributes 40% to the B101 unit mark.

COURSEWORK SUBMISSION

The coursework submission includes:

Presentation document file.
The only accepted file formats are Microsoft PowerPoint, Open Office Presentation or Adobe Acrobat.
Video of the student delivering the presentation.
The video must show the student standing to deliver the presentation.
Videos must be uploaded to an external website, such as YouTube, Vimeo or similar services.
The coursework must include a link to the external website hosting the video.

Students are required to submit their coursework online using the Mosaic website.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

(1) Presentation content (35 marks)

Marks	Criteria
28–35	The presentation has a creative style and compelling insights.
24–27	The presentation has an effective and user friendly structure.
20–23	The presentation used effective visual techniques for illustrating key concepts.
16–19	The presentation has relevant supporting concepts and background information.
14–15	At a threshold level, the presentation identified the main sustainable development issue.
0–13	The presentation has minimal relevance to the coursework assignment.

(2) Presentation delivery (35 marks)

Marks	Criteria
28–35	The presentation was delivered in a compelling manner and effectively integrated multimedia resources.
24–27	The presentation was delivered in a compelling manner.
20–23	The presentation was delivered in a confident manner.
16–19	The presentation was delivered in a comfortable manner.
14–15	At a threshold level, the majority of the presentation could be heard and viewed.
0–13	There were unacceptable difficulties with hearing and viewing the presentation.

(3) Writing mechanics (30 marks)

Marks	Criteria
22–30	The presentation effectively used a personal writing style and followed all grammar and spelling rules.
21	The presentation used effective writing techniques and followed all grammar and spelling rules.
18–20	The presentation followed all grammar and spelling rules.
15–17	The presentation followed most grammar and spelling rules.
12–14	At a threshold level, the presentation followed some grammar and spelling rules.
0–11	The presentation has an unacceptable number of errors with grammar and spelling.
