1. Design requirements (10 Marks)
Numbered list of product requirements:
- Most important first, least important last
- Selection of requirements is more important than length or quantity of list
- Must be precise, specific, technical, numerical
Only provide one list.
The list should provide a snapshot of the product innovation/value.
Do
NOT include:
- Explanations of requirements
- Marketing information or sales pitch
2. Use case scenarios (10 Marks)
Detailed description of
3 use case scenarios which illustrate:
- The user experience
- Insight or creative perspective about a specific:
- Product feature, or
- User requirement
Do
NOT include or describe
EVERY feature of the product design. Use case scenarios should emphasize the most important and creative features of the design requirements and specifications.
Select scenarios which provide the most details and the most specific examples of the user experience.
3. Design analysis and concept diagrams (20 Marks)
Describe and compare issues related to the design of your product and other similar products:
- Description of concepts, requirements and features for similar products
- Description of concepts, requirements and features for your product
- Review of key differences and your motivations for making design decisions
- Indicate the primary features of your design that are the most creative and original

- Information related to the marketing or sales of the product
- Marketing information about other products
4. Prototyping analysis (20 Marks)
Discuss the experience of building prototypes during the design process:
- Describe and illustrate all the prototyping activities done by the team
- Discuss specific areas where the experience of building prototypes affected the design requirements and specifications
5. Design specifications (40 Marks)
This part contains the explanations of
HOW to build the product. It describes the
METHODS to build the product.
Include information such as:
- System plans
- System architecture
- Drawings and sketches
- User interface designs
- Parts and supply ordering information
Design specifications marked for:
- Quality
- Accuracy
- ORIGINALITY
Do
NOT include:
- Technical information that is not relevant to the product design
- Design specification of other products
- Marketing information or sales pitch
